Ahh, final week already…
Well folks, sorry about the lack of photographs this trip. I am finding that this time around the "feels like -58" kind of takes the thrill of sightseeing out of the "something fun to do on a sunny afternoon" catagorie. So walking to the Northern store and immediate vicinity has been the extent of my travel. This posting has no vehicle for security- no driving duties at all so no car access.
Staying the month in a motel for a month is, well, like staying in a motel for a month. The room had been great and the joint use kitchen down the hall has worked well for my meal preps. The churtling raven that croaks near my window occassionall around noon- that was cute the first time- and could have occurred anywhere. But the people moving around the hallways, tvs in the kitchen, conversations in the lounge below my room can make sleeping during the day a little challanging. Someone suggested a noise machine or fan- what a great idea that would have been if I had thought of that four weeks ago..
Below is the intersection close to the motel. Its actually quite busy during the day, linking the Northern and other stores and services with the main road to the airport and the old and new sections of the town. Like most of these communities the red sign is a Yield, and anyone has the right of way. Atvs don't slow, snowmobiles don't stop, pickups fit in between. It seems to work...
I think its kind of a 4-way stop as well as I've seen snowmobiles headed L to R here pull off towards the ice side off road while entering the intersection to speed up the hill and re-join the road further up.
So yes- I do miss the babies. Hi Rowan- looking forward to meeting you! Hi Lottie- I see you are crawling! Hi Christopher and Tori- you're cheeky!
If theres not too much ice in Winnipeg tonight our relief should make it through for tomorrow and we will be out Tuesday. See y'all soon.
